+++++++ Employee disloyalty was (and is) a result of the gap between an employer and its employees due to great job insecurity. The hope for eventual reward for a lifetime of faithful service with one employer disappeared sometime after 1980 when downsizing layoffs began. Corporate demand for ever higher share prices resulted in rewarding CEO's for actions that increase value of shares in their company. This was pretty easy to do when this practice began: just terminate whole company divisions. Your stock will immediately rise as will your personal earnings which are tied to share prices.
Baby-boomers were alienated by such actions and most are still dissatisfied with their jobs and feel little loyalty to employers.
+++++++ Now it seems that younger workers are more loyal to employers and say they have high job satisfaction. This euphoria may be in advance of the looming acute shortage of capable employees in three to five years. When this begins to hit employers will bend over backward to keep good people (and not so good as well). But this former Human Resources executive knows that a company is never interested in its employees; it is only interested in how much effort it can wring from them for the least amount of cost. This is the job of Human Relations.
+++++++ But outsourcing will continue and increase in the name of productivity. Profitability requires increasing output from the same or fewer resources. Meaning every employee at every level will receive additional training and be required to work more and harder for their entire working lives. A satisfied employee who is working 50 hours a week now will become less satisfied as the hours increase to 60 or 70 and they begin taking work home. What kind of life will this be? Workers will be increasingly defined only by their work (their employer) and have no personality of their own.
+++++++ My goal now is to show every worker from professional doctor to garbage technician how to escape the work trap or to give them the ability to gracefully do something else.

+++++++ This is just like working by the hour. Even doctors and lawyers are tied to working by the hour. At some point if they don't work they don't have income. All are subject to illness, disability, and economic variables beyond individual control.
+++++++ If you are happy by all means continue doing what you like. At the same time enhance your sense of wellbeing, happiness, and security by developing other income sources.
